Listed below you will find just some of the many things you can do to help out at The Arc of Utah.

Volunteer with The Arc of Utah!

If you would like to help us support people with intellectual disabilities, please contact Jason at (801) 364-5060 or stella@arcutah.org. Here are some of the ways YOU can get involved:

Programs

Holiday Gift Box Program:


Help The Arc of Utah give holiday gifts to individuals with disabilities who are low-income and would not receive anything otherwise.

1. Participate in the selection process for applicants

2. Contact potential donors to purchase gifts

3. Staff or sponsor a holiday gift tree at your work or church

4. Track sponsors and recipients

5. Organize and wrap gifts

6. Coordinate thank yous for volunteers

Empower Ed:

Help educate youth and adults transitioning out of the traditional school system.

1. Be a teacher!

2. Assist students in the classroom

3. Set up a Empower Ed in your area

4. Organize an event or fundraiser

5. Make/distribute marketing materials for a Campus Clubs opening

6. Coordinate volunteers

Bridge to the Future:

Guiding and providing resources to caregivers through each stage of life for their loved one with a disability.

1. Be a trainer!

2. Set up a training in your area

3. Make/distribute marketing materials for a Bridge to the Future training

4. Make/distribute Bridge to the Future guide books

5. Write a section for the guide book

Events and Fundraisers

Staff Booths:

1. Prepare packets for booths

2. Staff the booth, talk to people

3. Pass out information

4. Evaluate the event

Events or Fundraisers:

1. Put together informational materials

2. Solicit donations

3. Create invitations

4. Participate in the event

Office Work and Other Opportunities

Office Participation:

1. Address envelopes

2. Phoning

3. Filing

4. Organizing

5. Get newsletters ready to mail or prepare other mailings

6. Database entry or creation

7. Update website

8. Update/cleanup computers

 
Cleaning:

1. Shampoo carpets

2. Wash windows

3. Vacuum and dust

 

Transportation:

1. Pick up donations

2. Run errands

3. Transport participants to advocacy classes or events

 
Outreach:

1. Research public speaking opportunities

2. Participate in public speaking opportunities

3. Assist with the writing of public service announcements and press releases

4. Train and participate in a speakers bureau for people with disabilities

5. Provide and participate in panels for public forums

 
Training:

1. Assist in setting up rooms, snacks, sign in sheets, chairs, tables and paperwork for trainings

2. Coordinate transportation and respite for those who need it to be able to attend trainings

3. Perform a training

4. Clean up

5. Evaluate training

6. Determine what needs to be done for next class, copying, snacks, etc.
