EmpowerEd
EmpowerEd is an education program developed by The Arc of Utah to address the vital need for youth and adults with disabilities to have opportunities for educational, social and recreational experiences after transitioning from public school. The Arc has two EmpowerEd locations: one in Davis County and one in Salt Lake County. We are currently working on opening a third site!
EmpowerEd offers opportunities to people of all levels of ability to help retain skills already learned as well as to learn new skills to promote independence and community inclusion. The program is expanding to other locations around the state. Contact The Arc at debowman@arcutah.org if you are interested in participating or would like more information.
*This program has received funding from American Express, DDN Services, Wells Fargo Bank and The Boeing Employees Community Fund. We are grateful for their support!
Bridge to the Future!
Life is a series of changes and transitional phases, and for individuals with cognitive, intellectual and related developmental disabilities, these changes can often be dramatic and even traumatic! The Arc of Utah has developed a training to help individuals with disabilities, their families and the professionals who work with them to prepare for the many changes that lie ahead and to minimize negative effects of these changes. Bridge to the Future discusses the various phases that occur during a child's life and on into adulthood, and the ways to prepare individuals with disabilities and families to effectively advocate for their unique needs. The training is available to groups as well as in an interactive and accessible format on this website! Contact The Arc to schedule a group training at debowman@arcutah.org.

Respite Pool
Respite is the #1 service requested by those who care for people with disabilities. The Arc of Utah has formed a Caregiver Respite Pool to match caregivers looking for someone to provide quality respite care with respite providers looking for work. The Arc notifies caregivers when a respite provider is available in their area. The Arc does not screen applicants and participants are responsible for their own interviews, background checks and evaluations regarding potential employment.

Public Policy Advocacy
Policy makers cannot make good decisions without accurate knowledge. The Arc of Utah trains individuals and their families to effectively advocate on disability issues to their legislators and other federal, state and local policy makers. The Arc also keeps members informed about critical issues and legislation that affect people with disabilities. Email joyce@arcutah.org if you would like to schedule a legislative advocacy training for your group or organization.
Connection Through Computers Project
The Arc of Utah is currently authorized to accept computer equipment from the State of Utah surplus services as well as from private donors. These computers are provided to eligible, low income individuals with disabilities which gives them the opportunity to benefit from owning their own computer. Please contact us if you are interested in applying for or donating computers to this worthwhile project!

The Arc of Utah's Holiday Gift Box Project
To everyone who loves the holidays, it is unthinkable to know that someone is left out. The Arc of Utah's Holiday Gift Box Project is a program that brings meaningful gifts to individuals with intellectual disabilities who would not otherwise have the opportunity to celebrate the holidays. The Arc of Utah has furnished holiday gifts to thousands of Utahns over the years and we are always looking for new individuals and families to serve, as well as donations and volunteers to help this wonderful project become a reality each holiday season!
